Ballet Classes

Creative Movement

These classes teach rhythm, coordination and group participation through a variety of movements, games and ballet exercises.
Creative Movement is for students 3-5 years of age.

Pre-Ballet

These classes teach body alignment, posture and isometric muscle development. At this stage, students are introduced to the ballet vocabulary.
Pre-Ballet is for students 5-6 years of age.

Ballet 1

Students incorporate what they have learned in Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet and begin their formal introduction to classical ballet training.
Ballet 1 is for students 6-7 years of age.

Ballet 2

The student begins formal ballet training with the emphasis on barre work, focusing on the muscle development that is necessary to execute basic classical movements. Dancers may take one or two classes per week.
Ballet 2 is for students 8-10 years of age. Placement is recommended.

Ballet 3

These classes takes the student beyond the basic movements learned in Ballet 2. Center floor work is emphasized and accounts for one third of each class. Girls begin pre-pointe exercises to strengthen their feet, ankles, and legs for future pointe work Dancers are encouraged to attend two classes per week. Ballet 2 is a pre-requisite for Ballet 3.
Ballet 3 is for students 11-13 years of age. Placement is recommended.

Ballet 4

Students at this level focus on increased center floor work, particularly in the areas of petite allegro and pirouettes. Girls begin pointe work. Minimum attendance is two classes per week. Ballet 2 and Ballet 3 are a pre-requisite for Ballet 4.
Ballet 4 is for students 13-16 years of age and is by placement only.

Ballet 5

Students at this level begin the study of classical variations, and continue advanced training and pointe work. Minimum attendance is three classes per week. Ballet 2, 3, and 4, are a pre-requisite for Ballet 5
Ballet 5 is for students 14-18 years of age and is by placement only.

Ballet 6

Serious students in this level train to master the advanced technical skill, consistency, musicality, articulation, and natural expression. Ballet 2, 3, 4, and 5 are a pre-requisite for Ballet 6.
Ballet 6 is for students 15-18 years of age and is by placement only.

Adult Ballet

Reviews beginning and intermediate technique.
Adult ballet is for adults at a beginning or intermediate level.

Flamenco Classes

Flamenco

Flamenco is a Spanish art form with roots deep in Andalusia - Spain's southern region. Flamenco combines acoustic guitar playing, singing, chanting, dancing and staccato handclapping.
Flamenco workshops are offered and are for students 14 - 18 years of age.

Jazz Classes

Jazz / Ballet Combo

Incorporates the skills the dancers have learned in Creative Movement with the introduction of basic jazz movements.
Jazz / Ballet Combo is for students 5-6 years of age.

Jazz / Ballet 1 Combo

Reviews the basics of Ballet, and focuses on jazz movements.
Jazz / Ballet 1 Combo is for students 7-10 years of age.

Intermediate Jazz

Reviews basic jazz technique, and takes the student beyond basic jazz movements.
Intermediate Jazz is for students 11-13 years of age.

Jazz / Hip Hop

Reviews basic jazz technique and introduces hip hop dance movements.
Jazz / Hip Hop is for students 13-18 years of age.

Beginning / Intermediate Jazz

Reviews the basics of jazz technique, and focuses on center combinations and travelling movements.
Beginning / Intermediate Jazz is for students 13-15 years of age.

Intermediate / Advanced Jazz

Takes students beyond basic jazz technique, and focuses on turns, travelling steps, and leaps specifically for jazz choreography.
Intermediate / Advanced Jazz is for students 14-18 years of age and is by placement only.

Adult Jazz

Reviews beginning and intermediate jazz technique.
Adult jazz is for adults at a beginning or intermediate level. Placement is recommended.

Modern Classes

Intermediate Modern


Modern Dance styles emerged, for the most part, in the first half of the 20th century in the United States. Dancers are introduced to the basics of Graham Technique, Limon Technique, Cunningham technique, and Hawkins techinque. Ballet 2 and 3 are a pre-requisite for intermediate modern.

Intermediate Modern is for students 12-16 years of age. Placement is recommended.

Advanced Modern

Takes dancers beyond the basics. Dancers begin learning advanced choreography. Dancers are encouraged to attend two modern classes per week. Ballet 3 and 4 are a pre-requisite for advanced modern.
Advanced Modern is for students 14-18 years of age and is by placement only.

Pointe Classes

Pointe

Pointe work is performed using hard-toed and stiff-shanked pointe shoes. Dancing on pointe requires considerable strength and skill and is a central part of a female ballet dancer's training and repertory. Ballet 3 and 4 are a pre-requisite for studying pointe.
Pointe is for students 12-18 years of age and is by placement only.

Tap Classes

Tots Tap

These classes teach rhythm, coordination and group participation through a variety of movements, games and tap exercises.
Tots Tap is for students 3-5 years of age.

Tap 1

Introduces basic tap steps and technique.
Tap 1 is for students 6-8 years of age.

Tap 2

Reviews basic tap steps and focuses on combining movements into sequences.
Tap 2 is for students 8-10 years of age. Placement is recommended.

Tap 3

Students focus on speed and accuracy of more challenging tap movements. Tap 2 is a pre-requisite for Tap 3.
Tap 3 is for students 11-14 years of age and is by placement only.

Tap 4

Students focus on mastering challenging tap movements with speed and accuracy. Sequences become more complex with solo works as well as group work with intricate configurations.
Tap 4 is for students 14-18 years of age. Placement is recommended.

Adult Tap

Reviews basic and intermediate tap movements.
Adult Tap is for adults at a beginning or intermediate level.

Yoga & Pilates

Absolute Flow

In this class, the instructor weaves the practices of yoga and pilates together in a continuous flow of core challenging excercises. Be prepared to breathe deeply, find balance and flexibility, build strength, and sweat! This class is open to all levels.
Absolute Flow classes are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:00-11:15am. Open Class Fees Apply

Prana Flow

An energetic sequencing of poses that strengthens the body opens the mind and connects to the spirit. A continuous flow of asanas (poses) with endurance building holds sure to leave you feeling strong, centered, and invigorated! This class is open to all levels.
Prana Flow classes are offered on Thursdays 6:00-7:15pm. Open Class Fees Apply

Prana Flow Community Yoga

A free yoga class. This class is a basic class that encourages members of the community to try yoga and experience the many benefits.
Prana Flow Community Yoga classes are offered on Saturdays 12:00-1:00pm.
